Drama

Student agency and a child centred teaching approach is the primary focus of the Drama program at NLPS. Student interest forms the foundation of the program where they learn skills to help realise creative ideas and projects. We are not teaching them how to be artists but giving them creative tools to make art and performance.

The focus of the lower school program begins with understanding and differentiating between the audience and performer, learning about the stages of the creative process when making a play, exploring tableaux (still images that tell a story) and performing fairytale plays. Middle and upper school involves writing and performing their own plays along with learning fundamental skills around filmmaking where students write, shoot and edit their own short films.

“All the world’s a stage.”
